new Interstate ECO Tour Plus
11 / 16 / 2009
The tyre meets the challenging and previously contradictory objective of combining top-class wet safety with reduced rolling resistance, leading to higher fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

Interstate has accomplished this breakthrough through the development of materials technology called I-ECO combined with a new non-directional tread design. I-ECO produces a lower rolling resistance coefficient by reducing energy loss in the top compound during rotation. The new non-directional tread design features a connected block and a thin rib with strategically placed noise reducing ovals, which enhances contact pressure and wet braking performance. All tyres are produced with the Interstate Clean-Oil.
The Interstate ECO Tour Plus has a 13,4% improved rolling resistance (versus average competitors products in the same dimensions) which makes it, on average, 2,8% more fuel efficient and achieves a reduction of 2,9% in CO2 output.
The Interstate ECO Tour Plus will be introduced as an integrated replacement product during 2010, targeting compacts and mid-sized passenger cars with 14” to 16” rim sizes in 55 to 65 series. The first 5 sizes will be available in the first quarter of 2010; 185/60R14, 195/60R14, 195/65R15, 195/55R15 and 205/55R16. Seventeen additional sizes will follow in the second quarter of 2010
ECO Plus is Interstate’s flagship brand that will play a significant role in the battle to improve fuel economy and efficiency, ultimately helping consumers save money in this tight economy. This is achieved by reducing rolling resistance and/or saving resources while maintaining various performances required of tyres, especially high-level safety performance.
